Processing the Joy

What continues to be
So wonderful about this day

Is the constant threat

Of ecstasy.

Already once, without warning

Joy divine graced my mind

And my heart stopped

While the blood raced on

As if unencumbered by the internal storm.

There it goes

Jumping again in my chest

And the cavity knows

Release is imminent

Containment in this breast

A mere fantasy.

And all such delight

Purely unsummoned

But surely an answer

To the unconscious

Question I had asked --

What on earth to do
Til my Lover gets here?
